Sinai Support Groups

Support group meetings (unless otherwise designated) take place at New England Sinai Hospital, 150 York Street, Stoughton.  They typically are held in one of our conference rooms on the first floor. Information as to the location is available at the information desk when you enter the hospital.  The hospital is handicap accessible. Referrals are not necessary and there is no charge to attend.  People are welcome to invite their family and friends to attend with them.

 

Bereavement Support Group

The group may be particularly helpful for those who have lost loved ones within the past year. Linda Mezzetti, LICSW, a Medical Social Worker at Sinai, will lead the group. She has a special interest in the grief and mourning process and has worked with adults and elders since 1995.

Parkinson's Support Group

A support and educational group for persons with Parkinson’s disease and their caregivers facilitated by a Sinai social worker with speakers on topics of interest.

Meets the third Monday of each month

A support group for stroke victims and their families. Meets the first and third Mondays of each month.

Caregiver Support and Education Series

for Caregivers of Person's With Alzheimer's and Dementia
Sponsored by Sinai's Alzheimer's Adult Day Health Program

These one-hour, monthly programs feature speakers and presentations on topics of interest to caregivers of persons with Alzheimer’s disease or dementia.  These free programs are open to the public, and are structured to provide time for networking and socializing.

Diabetes Support Groups

Provides support and education to adults with diabetes. There is an evening group that meets once a month on a Monday. Attendance is free and the meetings are open to all people with diabetes.

Second Monday of each month

The diabetes support group will resume meeting in September.

Support for Family Caregivers of Frail Adults

“Meet with a Geriatric Case Manager”

Sponsored by the Sinai Adult Day Health Program in conjunction with the Stoughton Council on Aging, this program provides caregivers the opportunity to speak one-on-one with a nurse geriatric specialist during a free 30 minute session.

The sessions are held on the 2nd Tuesday of the month between 10:00 and 11:00 am at the Stoughton Council on Aging, 110 Rockland Street, Stoughton, MA.

Fibromyalgia & Arthritis Aquatics Exercise

Fibromyalgia & Arthritis Aquatics Exercise Program- (ongoing)

A five week program consisting of twice-weekly exercise sessions. Group members participate in a variety of pool exercises designed to help. Increase strength, flexibility and endurance. Sessions are led by licensed physical therapist assistants.

$75 - for 10 sessions

Physician orders and clearance is needed; pre-registration required.

The program is ongoing. Sessions run consecutively.
