Carlos Vasquez Honored as Employee of the Year

Carlos Vasquez, an Inventory Technician at New England Sinai Hospital for more than 15 years, has been named as the Hospital's 2011 Employee of the Year. He resides in Brockton with his wife and their children.
At a celebration event held on February 6, 2012, a tribute was given, which read in part:
"It is said that work done well brings grace and serenity to the person doing it, and Carlos, this most certainly is true of you. Calm, soft-spoken and mentally focused, you are Zen like in your work ethic, giving careful consideration to everything you do and carrying out your responsibilities swiftly and efficiently. As Inventory Technician you take your responsibilities very seriously, working to ensure that our medical equipment and supplies are current and complete. In your methodology and management of inventory you are a Zen master - attentive to the finest details; the supply rooms you manage are meticulously kept and diligently maintained. Absolutely every last item is organized and ready for delivery. And you don't stop there. You have been known to arrange other spaces around the hospital in the most respectful and helpful way. Your ability to create order, efficiency and harmony in everything you do is extraordinary. Carlos, since so much of your work is done behind the scenes, you may not know what a profound difference you make in the lives of our patients or how much all of us value your subtle but powerful contributions. And we most certainly do."
The Susan G. Kropoff Award is so named to honor the example of a former patient who remained at Sinai for most of her adult life. A person of immense courage and patience, Kropoff, who was a quadriplegic, battled complex medical conditions for much of her childhood and adult life, but remained vibrant and engaged in everything and everyone around her. She touched the lives of everyone who came to know her at Sinai and her example inspired many.
