Education Programs & Classes

New England Sinai Hospitals Health Education Department staff offers individual and group program, classes, and lectures. Our health educators are registered dietitians and certified diabetes educators who instruct people about health risk reduction and the management of diabetes, heart disease, high blood pressure, GI disorders, cancer, kidney disease, eating disorders and obesity.
We offer the following programs several times a year.
Diabetes Know How
Whether you are newly diagnosed or living with diabetes for many years, knowing the newest and best ways to manage and control type 1 or type 2 diabetes can make all the difference. This four-session "Diabetes Know How" program located at new England Sinai Hospital, is taught by certified diabetes educators, a nurse educator and a registered dietitian. A physician's written referral is required, and the cost is covered by most insurances.

Advance Your Control
This class is designed for those with Type 1 diabetes on multiple injections or using the insulin pump, who would like to take their diabetic self-management skills to the next level. The class is taught by certified Diabetes Educators; a registered nurse, and a registered dietician. A physician's written referral is required, and the cost is covered by most insurances.

Diabetes Exercise Program
This is a six-week Diabetes Exercise program for individuals, with all types of diabetes, to learn how to exercise safely and improve their blood glucose control. The Program is taught by an Exercise Physiologist who is a Certified Diabetes Educator. The one-hour class sessions run on a rolling admission; participants can enroll at anytime.
Cost per six-week series is $150.

Diabetes Support Group
Provides support and education to adults with diabetes and their families. There is an evening group that meets once a month on a Monday. Attendance is free and the meetings are open to all people with diabetes.

Pump Club
The Pump Club is a free diabetes support and education club with discussion for anyone either on an insulin pump or interested in going on an insulin pump and learning more. No registration is required. The group meets from 6:00pm to 7:00pm several times a year.

Weigh Less for Life
A six session healthy weight loss program for adults who want to lose and manage their weight. The classes focus on eating healthy, good nutrition and behavior modification techniques. Cost of the six week program is $120.

Fibromyalgia & Arthritis Aquatics Exercise
Mondays 11:00am - 12 noon and Wednesdays 1:00pm - 2:00pm
Old Colony, YMCA Pool, 445 Central Street, Stoughton, MA
Fibromyalgia & Arthritis Aquatics Exercise, is a five week program consisting of twice-weekly strengthening exercise sessions. Group members participate in a variety of pool exercises designed to help increase strength, flexibility and endurance. Sessions are led by licensed physical therapist assistants. $75 - for 10 sessions.
A physician written referral and pre-registration are required. The program is ongoing. Sessions run consecutively.

Sinai's 2nd Tuesday Series
