AT NEW ENGLAND SINAI HOSPITAL'S "STEPPING OUT" GALA

STOUGHTON, MA —Boston resident and Sinai Board of Directors Vice Chairman Stan Hatoff will be presented with the hospital’s Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2009 Stepping Out Gala on May 2, 2009 at the Fairmont Copley Plaza in Boston. The award will be given for the first time in the hospital’s 82-year history to recognize Hatoff’s long and distinguished service to Sinai. As a board member of New England Sinai for more than 30 years, Hatoff’s business acumen, leadership and understanding have helped guide the hospital in attaining recognition as the premier long-term acute care hospital in the region.

STAN HATOFFThe “Stepping Out with Sinai” evening program begins at 6pm and includes a reception and auction, a sumptuous, formal dinner and dancing. In addition to tributes to Stanley Hatoff, the 2009 Compassionate Caregiver Award will also be presented. Tickets for the gala are $200 per person. Hatoff’s long-standing commitment to New England Sinai began when he was recruited to the Board of Directors by then-President Archie Kaplan in the early 1970s. Hatoff championed Kaplan’s vision for a new, suburban hospital in Stoughton, and in the years since he has continued to support the dreams of his mentor and carry forward the legacy of Archie Kaplan and his wife Ethyle. Today, as Sinai Vice Chairman of the Board he continues to use his business acumen, leadership and understanding to help guide Sinai’s path of excellence in long-term acute care.

A resident of Boston, Hatoff will be 85 years old this May and has been a leader in his community for most of his life. Both the Boston and local Jewish communities have benefited greatly from his efforts. As a philanthropist and celebrated fundraiser, he helped many groups and organizations, and as a member of the Greater Boston Committee, State of Israel Bonds, Hatoff’s name was synonymous with Israel Bonds in Boston. He served as general chairman from 1976 to 1978, received the Shield of Israel Award in 1977 and was honored as Man of the Year in 1978.

A longtime champion of higher education, Hatoff has given generously to Berklee College of Music and was honored as a Fellow of Brandeis University, where he earned the Distinguished Community Service Award for his commitment and fundraising efforts. He also devoted his time, talent and energy in helping his alma mater, Boston University, where he is a member of the President’s Council.

Hatoff’s notable record of service to others extends beyond healthcare and education and includes having served as President of the Boston Chapter of the American Technion; Vice President of Congregation Mishkan Tefila, Treasurer and Vice President of Zionist House, Board of Directors of the Zamir Chorale of Boston, Board member of the Jewish Theological Seminary of America, and Vice President of the Boston Classical Orchestra.

Founded in October of 2001, the New England Sinai Hospital Foundation was established to serve as the philanthropic arm of New England Sinai Hospital and Rehabilitation Center. The Foundation is committed to raising funds to support New England Sinai Hospital in meeting the health-care needs of its communities, through the development of financial support from individuals, businesses, organizations and foundations.
